1. In fact, in order to ensure that the motor can be started quickly, the main feed pump is often operated at a low speed for a short time by adjusting the fluid coupling. After the motor is started, the speed is gradually increased to the rated operating condition.

2. Some of the front pumps of the steam driven feedwater pump are directly driven by a separate electric motor, while others are driven by the feedwater pump turbine that drives the feedwater pump after gear reduction and operates at variable speeds. When driving an electric motor, there should be an interlocking device to ensure that the front pump operates before the main pump.

3. The connection method of the front pump. The connection mode of booster pump and main feed pump can be divided into two types: one is that booster pump and main feed pump share one motor, which is driven by fluid coupling and speed change device; Another type is that the front pump and main feedwater pump are respectively driven by electric motors or feedwater pump turbines.
