Barring gear is the driving device to lead the shaft rotating before the turbine generator starts or after it shuts down. Barring gear is installed on the back bearing box cover of steam turbine and generator. Its basic function is as follows:
After the machine stop turning, make the rotor turns continuously, to avoid the rotor bending caused by the temperature difference of upper and lower cylinder natural cooling.
-Unit rushes forward turning, makes the rotor turns continuously to avoid the rotor bending caused by the temperature difference of valve leakage steam and steam seal aspirated or other factors. At the same time to check whether the rotor has been bent and static parts of the friction phenomenon.
-Unit must be in the turning condition to turn; otherwise as the friction force is too big, rotor turning occurs under stationary state, it will result in bearing damage.
A longer time continuously turning can remove non-permanent bending caused by the long-term shutting down of the units or by other reasons.
